Hello, Destabilized readers! I’m very happy to say: We’re back!
My several-month hiatus was caused by a disc issue that began in December and got more and more painful in January. I did physical therapy and tried other treatments but nothing helped. I finally got an MRI in mid-February, which showed a piece of my disc had completely broken off and was pressing against a bundle of nerves. In March, I had microdiscectomy surgery to remove it. It was only after the surgery that I realized how much mental energy I’d been expending just tolerating the pain. So much that it impeded my capacity for creativity and critical thinking, which made good writing impossible. The surgery was successful, and now that I’ve had time to get back on top of my consulting work and life generally, I’m back to it. I’m developing some new approaches and I’m excited to share them in the months ahead!
The experience has left me with an enhanced sense of gratitude, including for all of you who read and engage with Destabilized. Thank you.
